Josep Minguell i Cardenyes
He was born in Tàrrega in 1959. He began painting in as part of a family tradition, and complemented his training with a degree from the Faculty of ”Belles Arts” in the University of Barcelona, where he studied for his doctorate.
In the early eighties he took part in the creation of the “Fira del Teatre al Carrer” in Tàrrega, an important theatre festival, in the “Fira de l’Escultura”, a Sculpture Fair, as well as in a series of festivals that have the common aim of reclaiming the streets as living spaces.
Since 1981 he has held numerous individual exhibitions around Catalonia, France, Italy, etc. and he has taken part in collective exhibitions, fairs and international events as ARCO or Artexpo.
In recent years Josep Minguell has specialised in the study and practise of al fresco mural paintings in many different achitectural spaces.

MOLÍ DE PEDROLO:
A PLACE TO LIVE IN, A SPACE TO CREATE IN
Since 2002, Josep Minguell has lived and worked in the Molí de Pedrolo, a singular architectural space, an old two-press oil mill, with its adjacent outbuildings, in the old centre of Tàrrega. The building belonged to the family of the writer Mauel de Pedrolo, and has a long history dating back to before the 18th. Century. Altogether, a vast space that the artist has converted into his study.
And far from being a closed space, his wish is to project his own experience with al fresco mural painting: recover that space for the public and make it permeable and open, with a real presence in his territory.
